I guess it's just the next rung in the Internet evolution, right after social networking and right before ... I dunno ... neo-religion? I recall reading something about Second Life when it was first created a few years ago but who knew it would have actually "lived" on. My skepticism was completely dashed after speaking to a couple of friends who occupy higher up corporate marketing positions. They are separately being commissioned to research merchant applications to infiltrate this virtual netherworld.
Maybe it's time to start looking for that parcel of seaside property I'll never be able to afford in real life. It's amazing to think that this is only the beginning of such things - Escapist reality taken one step further.
